Prime minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, commemorate fourth child’s county of birth in choice of name David and Samantha Cameron today commemorated the Cornish roots of their new daughter by naming her Florence Rose Endellion. The prime minister and his wife were holidaying near the village of St Endellion in the county when it became clear they would have to make a hurried journey to hospital in Truro yesterday morning. Their new daughter was born at lunchtime. The couple were said to have finalised the choice of names earlier this afternoon. Downing Street said the Camerons had received congratulatory messages from the Queen, the Prince of Wales, Gordon and Sarah Brown and the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy. The prime minister spent the night with his wife at the Royal Cornwall hospital, where their daughter was delivered by caesarean section.
